LIA DISKIN Lia Diskin was born in Argentina and graduated in Journalism from the José Hernandez School of Journalism in Buenos Aires. She has a master's degree in Literary Studies. In 1986, she was honoured with the Gibran International Cultural Association (ACIGI) medal for "Bringing Western Progress Closer to Eastern Wisdom". As a co-founder, Lia has been at the forefront of PALAS ATHENA's activities since its inception in 1972, and has created several social and educational programmes, as well as various cultural projects. She currently coordinates de São Paulo State Committee for the Culture of Peace Decade - a UNESCO programme. Lia is a gifted writer and lecturer, and teaches, delivers speeches and conducts workshops throughout Brazil and abroad. In October 2007, she was invited by the Government of India to attend and participate in a Round Table discussion at the United Nations headquarters in New York which brought together a few eminent global thinkers and intellectuals to address contemporary challenges and problems. Also addressed at the UN Round Table was the relevance of the Gandhian non-violence tenet for today's international issues.
BASILIO PAWLOWICZ A philosopher and educator, Basilio is a guide, mentor and facilitator of PALAS ATHENA's social and educational programmes geared to promoting the understanding and appreciation of cultures and knowledge.
PRIMO AUGUSTO GERBELLI A multi-talented artist and art educator, Primo is the founder and co-director of the Casa dos Pandavas Teaching Centre, a school for underprivileged children and teens run by PALAS ATHENA.
